iBlipper’s new control panel, rotate to landscape to restart. Hit the bookmark button for a permalink.
Nothing’s geekier than sitting around waiting for your iPhone to load a page. Previously, iBlipper made a round trip to the giant computer in the sky between your request to blip and the subsquent visual sizzle. Now, this happens immediately without another network request.
The only downside is that you can no longer bookmark just any iBlipper url. If you want to create a shortcut to your favorite message, just rotate the phone to get the control panel and hit the bookmark button to get a unique URL.
If you add a bookmark, you’ll have the option to add to your homescreen for super fast blipping.
The latest release features a new way to access the Control Panel and to precisely control the timing of your message starting. iBlipper is designed to communicate over a distance in landscape mode. Rotate the iPhone to vertical — standing up aka portrait mode — to access the control panel. When you’re ready to blip, rotate back to horizontal and your message will restart.
You can also change the speed, animation, and number of repeats from the control panel.
We’ve released some of the technology behind iBlipper as an open source Library. tyPhoGraphic allows you to augment HTML content with a few custom attributes and have it animate with all the wiggle, waggle, wobble, and zoomy goodness of iBlipper.
We’re upping the ante with iBlipper real soon now. Here’s a nice slow-mo capture of the new hardware accelerated “trans formz” in action:
We’re playing with bouncing, zoom, wobble, fade, and shake. Check out the CSS (beta version). We haven’t even begun with color transforms, smooth scroll, or putting each word in a span to for letter level control.
Release is coming soon, you can try a build of the beta. These effects are now live!
(Note: You’ll need to be on the iphone to see this in action)
These versions are also trying out a fixed-width font to make sizing a bit more consistent. Let us know what you think in the comments or at our UserVoice page.
