Very excited about the greater visual footprint and CPU power on the iPad… iblipper’s marquee animations are even faster and with the greater screen size, guaranteed to be more readable from even further away.
Expect a dedicated HD version, but in the meantime, blip away with the iPhone or online version.
After only 9 months in the Apple submission queue, iBlipper version 1.1 is now available.
The 1.1 release features a color picker, for both foreground and background, and with the ability to toggle between light on dark and dark on light. The color palette was carefully chosen to preserve readability while allowing expression.
The interface has been streamlined. Just rotate to horizontal to trigger the animation and it’ll keep on going.
Well, the appStore gauntlet has been challenging but I’m confident we’ve got it this time.
Until version 1.1 is released, iBlipper is free in the app store, http://bit.ly/get_iBlip. Once the update is available, it’ll go back to $0.99, so get your blip on today!
Alas, it’s been a while since an update. A rejection of the 1.1 version of iBlipper by Apple stalled efforts here, but we’re trying again and have posted a much enhanced version of iBlipper online. The update has been re-submitted after some productive community dialogue.
The new version of 1.1 version of iBlipper features:
COLOR! You can customize the foreground and background color.
Faster! Delays between words have been reduced and peformance optimized as well as vertical alignment tuned.
Gesture flick up to go faster, down to go slower
In the full version, shaking on the settings screen changes to a different configuration of speed, effect, and color. There are still a few kinks in the online version that’ll get smootehd out shortly. Stay tuned for, hopefully, an update to the full version and availability in the app store.
What timing, to be distracted from iBlipper finally reaching the app store by the season finale of Battlestar Galatica! To celebrate, blip some of our favorite quotes on the web app:
iBlipper’s new control panel, rotate to landscape to restart. Hit the bookmark button for a permalink.
Nothing’s geekier than sitting around waiting for your iPhone to load a page. Previously, iBlipper made a round trip to the giant computer in the sky between your request to blip and the subsquent visual sizzle. Now, this happens immediately without another network request.
The only downside is that you can no longer bookmark just any iBlipper url. If you want to create a shortcut to your favorite message, just rotate the phone to get the control panel and hit the bookmark button to get a unique URL.
If you add a bookmark, you’ll have the option to add to your homescreen for super fast blipping.
The latest release features a new way to access the Control Panel and to precisely control the timing of your message starting. iBlipper is designed to communicate over a distance in landscape mode. Rotate the iPhone to vertical — standing up aka portrait mode — to access the control panel. When you’re ready to blip, rotate back to horizontal and your message will restart.
You can also change the speed, animation, and number of repeats from the control panel.
